An artist of singular vision, Sébastien Di Nicolantonio has devoted his life to art, building a distinctive body of work driven by a resolutely eclectic sensibility.

 

Each piece is unique, created and signed by hand. From painting to drawing, from photography to artist's books, he brings mediums into dialogue with rare demand. At the heart of his work lies a free, gestural figuration: from the spontaneous projection of ink, faces and presences emerge emotion taking form before thought.

He is notably the inventor of the Creatopist, figures born of a pure, inspired gesture, whose pared-down line echoes the spirit of Chinese calligraphy. Furthermore, in his Hybrids series, he questions the frontier between human and machine.

A poet as much as a visual artist, he draws the living source of his art from writing: his inks and his figures extend through gesture what his verse seeks through words to summon, in a single stroke, what language cannot say.

 

Shaped by a dual education in philosophy and fine arts at the Sorbonne, his practice unites the depth of thought with the force of instinct: work that thinks as much as it feels.
